Nitrile Glove Price Forecast 2025

With an increase in nitrile glove prices in Q4 this year, we look at 2025’s forecast and the key factors expected to influence nitrile glove prices in the U.S.

1. Escalating Tariffs

The current U.S. government announced significant tariff increases on medical-grade nitrile gloves imported from China, with rates set to rise to 50% in January 2025 and 100% in 2026. Further tariffs are expected in 2025 as the new government emphasizes domestic production—it remains uncertain whether these tariffs will extend to other countries manufacturing gloves.

2. Shifts in Global Supply Chains

In response to U.S. Chinese tariffs, many glove buyers are turning to manufacturers in countries like Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. This surge in demand has already put pressure on these manufacturer’s capacities, leading to longer lead times and higher prices for U.S. glove importers, which is predicted to continue increasing into 2025.

3. Fluctuating Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR) Prices

NBR, the primary material used in nitrile gloves, has experienced price volatility due to raw material costs, demand from industries such as automotive and manufacturing and environmental and global events. While some forecasts suggest a gradual increase in NBR prices, the market remains susceptible to fluctuations, which could impact global glove pricing.

4. Increased Demand Across Sectors

The global disposable glove market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.5% from 2024 to 2029—attributed to increased usage in healthcare, improved workplace health and safety regulations and heightened hygiene awareness. Non Chinese manufacturers may face challenges scaling their production which could affect supply and consequently pricing.

5. Labor and Production Costs

Rising labor costs and stricter environmental regulations in manufacturing countries can increase production expenses, further increasing glove prices.

As the nitrile glove market evolves throughout 2025, making informed glove purchasing decisions based on proven safety standards is essential. Incorporating quality-tested gloves into HACCP and SOPs will immediately improve food safety.  While market factors may be beyond our control, implementing proper glove selection and usage can make a significant difference in operational efficiency and compliance.
